Bonding Time!

You may think I have fallen off the planet.  While that is impossible, I had pretty much fallen into a little bloggy flop.  But I’m back now!

This past weekend I went out of town to visit two of my best girlfriends and roommates from college.  We hadn’t seen each other for 2 years, and our reunion was way overdue.  I love these ladies so much!

Shannon (on the left) and I were randomly put together in the dorms freshman year of college, and Hailey (on the right) was in our building. We all became friends and decided to live together our sophomore year.  We celebrated all our 21st birthdays together :)

It seems crazy that the picture above is from 4 years ago! Living with these girls has changed my life.  When we saw each other last weekend it was just like the good old days.  I wish we weren’t so spread out all over the country!

While I was hanging out with my female friends, John was on Kentucky Lake on a huge houseboat with all his buddies for a batchelor party.  I could tell you some stories, but I won’t.  I only have a video and let’s just say it involves a man wearing a ladies one piece bathing suit.  bahaha

We’ve been trying to get caught up on sleep all week.  Isn’t it ironic how we can’t recover in 0.2 seconds like we did when we were in college?  So the floors are still a work in progress. Sorry I don’t have any glamourous photos for you today.  But I will SOON. I promise!

This weekend we are going to CONQUER those floors, so hopefully I’ll have some purty pictures for you on Monday! That’s the plan. :)

Did you become close with your college roommates?  Or did you have a horrible roommate experience??

  1. FUN! One of my best girlfriends from college came down to visit last year and we hadn’t seen each other in 5 years, and we picked up right where we left off. So glad you had fun with your girls!!

  2. Sounds like a great weekend =) I see one of my college roomies every now and then. It gets harder to stay in touch as things change, but it is always great to see her!

  3. I TOTALLY bonded with my college roomies…. I consider them my best friends :) Some of the best times of my life!

    Loved this.

  4. I didn’t know that we were the same age :) Sounds like an awesome weekend! I didn’t go to College but I have house-sharing stories that still give me nightmares!

  5. Can’t wait to see your floors conquered!

Sounds like you had a great time with your college friends :-) I went to university in the same city I lived in, so I never lived the dorm life or had roommates. I didn’t make any close friends in university, but I still have some close friends from high school. It’s scary to think how long we’ve known each other!

Good luck with the floors – you can do it!

  6. My college roomie and I got randomly placed together freshman year too and we lived together all four years. I had a reunion with all of my girls from college last weekend and I think I’m still recovering! I’m very much so looking forward to sleeping in and catching up on all the things I haven’t done tomorrow!

  7. Ha ha — wait till your 45 instead of 25, Whitney!! Takes me a week or two to recover from one fun weekend…yikes!
    Have a great (productive) weekend!

  8. Life is too short…you need to take and enjoy great times with friends and family…the floors can wait…relationships are more important…glad you had lots of fun!!!

    Have a great weekend!

  9. I’ve been in a bloggy slump too. ~whomp, whomp~

  10. Sounds like a great weekend away! The floors can wait- such a better use of time to make memories with friends!

I went to a local college so I never moved out with people. Part of me is really glad so I didn’t have debts or bad room mate experiences but another part of me is sad I missed out on some of those great bonds.

  11. Hey Welcome Back..sounds as if your reunion was just what you needed. Lucky you made such great friends. I didn’t go away to college – - I went locally so I didn’t build those strong bonds that you do when thrown together away from family and friends. Glad you did!!

  12. Hopefully all goes well with your floors this weekend! I can’t wait to see how they turn out! Glad you had a great visit with your girlfriends!!

  13. i have a couple horrible roommate experiences but two of my suitemates and I are super close still and we wish we were closer too! We are spread out in MA, MD, and FL. booooo, wish I could see the girls more!!

  14. I’ve been on a bloggy flop this week as well :) Sometimes we need to step away from the computer. Looks like you and your girls had a great time.

  15. Sounds like a blast! There really is nothing like visiting old college friends. I did that a couple months in our old college town and it was so fun to reminisce and talk about the old times. I seriously miss those college days sometimes!

  16. I think it is great that you still keep in touch with your roommates from college. My sister was my roommate my senior year in college and we had so much fun! She was probably my favorite out of all my roommates I had in college. Probably because we were able to be completely open and honest with each other.
I completely know what you mean about not bouncing back like you used to. I pay for it if I stay up past eleven. Back then I could pull an all nighter and still be going well into the next day… or two.

  17. Glad you got to have a bunch of fun this weekend! I’m kind of jealous you had the same roommates (and good ones!) all throughout. I had at least 20 roommates, always changing due to people changing schools, taking a semester off, and most frequently … Getting married!

I loved a lot of my roommates, but also had a few that I disliked so much that I moved out before my contract was up, and ended up paying for two places one semester because I couldn’t find anyone to buy that contract from me!

    • Oh man paying for two places stinks, but I’ve heard of people doing that before. It’s better to fork out a little more money than live with someone you can’t stand!

  18. Isn’t it hard when our projects don’t happen as fast as we’d like them to for blogland’s sake?! Take your time…we’ll all still be here. :) Glad you had fun with your girlies.

  19. Glad you had an awesome girls weekend! I would love to see the video and would probably die from laughing at a dude in a lady’s bathing suit.

I had ok roommate experiences. I lived with people I knew, and it always seemed we were friends before and after living together, but not so much during. I get tired of people being around all the time.

  20. Sometimes you just need a break! Visits with old friends are good for the soul :)
