Is that a cheesy title or what?! hehe
Remember when I showed you guys all the great deals I found when I went thrifting a few weeks ago? Well, included in said thrifting adventure is this hideous-kind-of-makes-me-cringe $2 picture frame:

Gross, right? I think this is a no-brainer as to what I did to spruce this thing up! I pulled out my handy-dandy Annie Sloan chalk paint {I guess I’m in a cheesy mood today?} and slapped some on. I had some left from my shabby mirror makeover, so I figured “why not?”

I only painted one coat so that it wouldn’t be 100% even because I was feeling too lazy at the time to paint another really like that aged look.

I spray painted the matting in Rustoleum’s Satin White. I’m not sure if I’m a fan of it being two-toned?? I mean I like it, but would it look better if the matting was Annie Sloan Old White as well? Thoughts?

The photo is from Christmas 2011 with the fam. My dressing room is the perfect spot for this frame because of all its shabby glory. And because it goes so well with my big mirror.

This little project was really way too easy, and the total comes to $4.67 {how’s that for exact?} including the 8×10 picture. Easy and cheap…my kinda project.
What are your thoughts on the matting? …Leave it Satin White or paint it Old White to match the frame?? Have you done any super simple projects lately? Feel free to let loose and pull out your corny side in the comment section.
Update!! Remember those updates we’re doing to the blog?! Yeah, we just updated to the latest version of WP and now our background is screwy. We’re trying to get it fixed ASAP!

Love it! Especially the legs! Great work. It’s so funny when you redo your previous diys. I do it too!
Totally talking about the previous post! Love this too! I have some frames in need of this too.!
That’s okay, I knew what you meant! And thanks!
That Annie Sloan does it again! So pretty. I say leave it the way it is. Looks perfect
Ooh I like it very much!
I think the bright white matte makes the photo pop – but it would also look good in a contrasting colour.
Pretty! I say leave it 2 toned =)
Looks great! We may have to pick up some of that chalk paint!
*sigh* so jealous of your dressing room! I like it two-toned, I say leave it as is!
I’m glad everyone likes the two-toned look, because that means I don’t have to repaint!
Pretty, pretty! Call me crazy but I am obsessed with gold frames at the moment so I did like the before as well. Anyhow it turned out beautiful!
Mandy
I’ve actually been seeing more ppl use gold in their home, but I guess I just haven’t quite gotten to that point yet
It looks great, I love the two tone! I have got to try this chalk paint!
It’s great stuff!
It looks gorgeous! I can’t believe it’s the same frame!
P.S. – Every time I see that mirror I fall in love all over again! It’s so beautiful!
Aw, thanks Ashley!! I love it too
Two toned
. Looks great, Whitney! Love simple projects like that!
Me too! Simple and quick
The frame looks good! The best part was it only set you back $2 and now it looks like a million bucks! I would add a hint of pink for the mat colour.
Love the two tone… I think it makes the picture pop!
What a simple and pretty makeover! And I agree with everyone else…I’m liking the mat bright white. I think it looks great!
2 tone! Looks cute!
I like! Another vote for 2 tone!
I like it two toned. It gives it more visual interest and really works well with all the color in the picture
That turned out so cute! Love that paint on there!
I like it two tone but I’m weird like that. I think it draws your eye to the pictures below.
I love that mirror… and I’m totally jealous of your “dressing room” gah!
Very pretty!!!
