My military man is finally home!

For those of you that don’t know, John has been in the Navy for the last four years.  And it’s been both an amazing journey and a tough road for us.  We’ve spent approximately the last two out of four years apart.

It all started when he left for bootcamp and I got a few letters and two phone calls while he was there.  I went to see him graduate and I didn’t take this smile off my face for two days straight….

It was so amazing to spend the weekend with him.  But then we were apart again for a long time.  We saw each other on and off until I finished college…

….in Chicago…

….then in San Diego…

And then we got married and I moved to Florida to be with my new hubby!!  Finally, we got to be together!!

We’ve spent the last two years in Florida, where he’s been stationed.  However, he’s been gone on underways (deployments) A LOT, so we still saw each other very sporadically.

Buuuuuuut……on Saturday, he hung up his uniform for the last time!  He served for 4 years, and now his time in the military is finished, and it’s time to open a new chapter in our lives.  We are SO excited!  I had no idea how hard it is to be a military family, but it is hard!  My hat goes off to all of those who are serving, as well as those families missing their loved ones.  It definitely has made us appreciate every minute we get to spend together.

I’m so proud of John for sacrificing so much to serve our country.  Our service men and women don’t get the recognition they deserve, so always be sure to thank them for their service.  It is because of them that we have the freedoms we do.  :)

  10. Please tell John that we are forever grateful for his service….Our servicemen are truly one of the backbones of our country…without them, we would not be a nation of freedoms, of beauty, of dreams…So we honor those who sacrificed their lives so that we can continue to enjoy our freedoms…and we honor those families who also sacrificed their loved ones…for they are the ones left behind to pick up the pieces of broken hearts and shattered dreams…We thank you!!!….
