Dining Room Table Progress (sort of)

If you’re new here, we recently got a heck of a deal on a craigslist dining room table and chairs.  I posted here about different options for making it over.

Welp, the Annie Sloan chalk paint has been ordered in Paris Grey.  I can hardly wait for it to get here!! It’s not exactly cheap, so I splurged a little on the paint and wax because we got such a crazy deal on the dining set itself.  I think it’ll be worth it though.  Of course that’s also my way of convincing myself that’s this expensive paint purchase is quite alright.  And because Shirley told me it would be worth it.  :) This has a name.  I learned this in psychology in college.  I think it was psychology.

Back to the table. I made a little trip over to JoAnn’s over lunch earlier this week and snapped a few pictures of some fabric choices for the seat cushions.

1. Cute teal flower print- color would compliment the walls. But maybe too girly for dining room chairs?

2. White dots on gray print would look good too.  No complaints with this one.

3. Sort of looks like a greenish-brownish-gray burlap. Could look cool.

4. Simple and classy.  But kind of reminds me of a hotel bedspread. :(

5. I’m diggin’ this gray one too.

6. I can’t decide if I like this print or not.

7. I like this print, but it’s still not screaming at me for some reason.

8. And the odd ball of the mix. I really enjoy yellow.  Hmm..

After I do the painting, I think I’ll have a better idea of what will look good.  #2 is my favorite at the moment.  What do you like?

Do you second guess yourself about a million times before picking out a paint color or fabric or piece of furniture?  I sure do. I’m getting on my own nerves because I can never make up my mind!  It’s laughable though.  “Whaaaaaa”.. that’s my best Snooki whine.  That girl is a trip.

….aaaaand I digress some more. happy friday ya’ll :)

  3. #2 is definitely my fave, but I do love a fun pop of color. :)

  4. I like #2 and #3, but as a guy I’m at a disadvantage!

  5. I love options 2 & 5… both are kinda classic but still really fun! When you get the Paris Grey paint, you should paint a small swatch onto something and bring it to the store so you can buy the fabric that matches the best!

  6. I love #2 too. And #5 is fabulous too. And of course the burlap look one is pretty cool …

I have a hard time picking fabric because I tend to fall in love with so many different patterns and colors!

    :)

  7. I totally agree with the other comments, wait until everything is painted before picking a fabric. I really like the very last fabric but you might need a slightly bolder pattern for the dining room?

  8. I always second-guess myself. It makes projects not get done, though, so I have to stop doing that and remember that it’s JUST decorating my house and really nobody cares. Except me. :P

I like your gray choices! It looks like some of your selections are cotton prints? Just be careful–they won’t stand up to the wear and tear brought on by dining room chair guests. And they wrinkle. I know from experience. :P That might help narrow your decision a little bit? :)

  9. I love #2 and #5… like many of the other comments! I love them! I laughed at #4…I thought about hotel lobby chairs! haha

  10. 1 & 2 are my faves. I don’t blame you. I get on my nerves too ;)

  11. #2!!! love it!! i can’t wait to see this makeover :)

  12. I absolutely love #2 and #6! Can’t wait to see what you do with it!

  13. #2 is definitely my favorite. I wonder about stain resistance, but you guys and your friends are probably pretty neat eaters :) .

I don’t second guess myself, which is kind of strange. I don’t think I make the best decisions always, but plunge right in must be more my personality?

  14. Love #2 – I always second guess myself when I’m in the middle of something – just go for it!

  15. I think you should be wild and go for #8! It would add a cute pop of color.

    I also like 2 and 5.

    Have a good weekend!

  16. Number 2! If it came in yellow, it would probably be perfect!

  17. #2 is my favorite too. But I too have a love for yellow! I would say wait until you paint, then decide but #2 is the first choice for me.

  18. I am with ya Whitney on the number 2 fabric….However, I agree with you to wait for the final results of your paint finish…What you are going for with the paint finish is going to be great!…

Thanks for the shout out!!!…I am truly honored…Happy painting!!!

Have a wonderful weekend with the love of your life!

  20. I totally feel ya on not being able to make up your mind. It’s so hard to decorate your own home! I like number 2 and 3 the best!

  21. I like #2 and #5 myself. They seem like the more timeless prints that you wouldn’t tire of as quickly and wouldn’t really go “in” or “out” of style. Plus I have a passion for grey. lol!

I would wait until you have them painted though and maybe get a few swatches from the store to try to make sure the greys mesh well with your paint colour.

I hear ya on having trouble making up your mind. I suffer from that allll the time.

    Have a great weekend!
