Stenciled Hallway Reveal

If you’re new to the blog, I’ve been working on painting and stenciling our hallway for, let’s see….about 3 weeks now!  Procrastinate much? Apparently this girl does.  Shheesssh.

I’m thrilled to say it’s done people!  D.O.N.E.  And it’s Friday which makes it even sweeter.  Annnddd I’ve got some other very exciting news, but I can’t tell you about it just yet! It’s probably not what you have in mind! :)

I suppose it was worth the wait because I’m in love with it now!  Our hallway was so boring before.  Just a long tired colorless hallway.  Remember, it looked like this:

Then we painted it gray and bought a wall stencil (you can check out the specific paint color here and stencil here) and then we got busy! Here are some more ‘after’ shots:

View from the front room peeking into the hallway:

View from the kitchen into the hallway:

I was playing around with the settings on my camera.  This one makes it look a little darker:

I think the silver metallic sheen looks awesome with the flat gray walls!

The busy stencil also helps camouflage the fuse box, which was a big eye sore in the middle of the hallway wall.  I can think of about 13 other spots that would’ve hid the fuse box perfectly throughout our house, but oh well.  I guess that’s how they built homes in the 60′s.  Now you don’t notice it as much:

I think I got Mannie boy’s approval ;)

I’m so glad I finally got this project done! Have a great weekend everyone!

Did you use the “small” or “large” stencil?

  4. Lisa

I’m actually about to order this stencil and do the gigantic bare wall behind my couch! I hope to share with you when I’m done!

    • Hi Lisa! So glad you stopped by! I ordered the Small one (it has two stencils on the template). I would LOVE for you to share your before and after pictures with me! You can email them to me at ~ It would be awesome to feature your wall on my blog. :) If you have any questions, let me know! Also, not sure if you’re planning on spray painting, but for a living room, I’d use a roller like the videos on the Cutting Edge Stencil website do. Good luck!!

  5. Krista

I love this. I see the stencil website instructions say to use a roller but you used spray paint. Would you recommend spray paint? Do you think that is simpler than a roller?

    • Thanks, Krista! I do think spray paint is simpler and less time consuming than a roller (it took me about 10 seconds to spray the stencil vs. about 2-3 min to get paint on the roller, then paint, etc) BUT you must cover the floor and baseboards because the overspray can ruin your floors or carpet. If I had to do it again, I probably would use the roller :) I hope it helps!! Feel free to take pics of your before and after… I’d love to feature your project here on my blog! :)

  6. Beautiful! I know how hard it is to stencil; you did a great job!!

  7. well now I am jealous that we don’t have any hallways in our new house to stencil. I think I will be stenciling a wall or something in a bedroom because I can’t get over how beautiful yours turned out!

  30. It was Blogger’s Friend Connect, not google reader. I’m not having this issue with any other blogs, so I’m not sure what the problem could be.
