What Girl Doesn’t Love Shiny Stuff?!

Happy New Year everyone!  2011 went by so fast and John and I have lots to be thankful for, including owning our first home and starting this blog!   We are having such a blast, and we thank you guys for stopping by! 

Well I’m back with a little project we’ve been working on for my girly dressing room.  I have been envisioning something a little more glamorous, but not too over the top, to add to this room.  

Recently John and I visited a thrift store, where all the proceeds benefit the Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.  How cool is that?  We will be dropping off all our future donations here. 

Anyway, we picked up a couple candlesticks for $2 a pop.  We purposely grabbed ones that weren’t the same size or shape because we think variety adds a nice touch.  We already had the tall one, so we went with a medium and short one to add to it.

Then we (well, John did this part) sprayed them with the leftover silver metallic paint that we used on our little holiday bean project.  It took two light coats and that was all they needed.  If we were painting something that would be handled a lot, we would’ve put a coat of primer on first, but it wasn’t needed because these are for looks only.

And when we were picking up our fabric for our front room chair makeover, we picked up a spool of ribbon to use on these babies for about $1.50.  So we (ok, I did the accessorizing part) tied the ribbon around the candlesticks. 

And then I added some cute little faux crystal gems that I picked up a while back.  You can find them anywhere, but mine are from Hobby Lobby.   I basically glued them on in various ways to whatever fit my fancy at the time.

Then we used a white shelf we had stored in the closet and mounted it on the gray wall for these to sit on.  And here’s the new ensemble, looking fabulous :)  They tie in nicely with the mirror I just added on my vanity as well.   

I’m loving the shiny glam my girly room is beginning to acquire!
