Paisley Crazy!

 We are so excited to finally reveal the makeover we did on the wooden chair we showed in our Front Room Revamp!

The poor thing was looking a little sad, but we loved how the design sort of resembles the beach- so laid back and chill.   Here she is below before we gave her a new oufit

The red definitely doesn’t tie in with this room, not to mention the cushions were old and faded.  We wanted to use a color scheme that was bold, and at the same time not too matchy-matchy with the greenish-blue theme going on in here.  So we didn’t hesitate when we found some awesome paisley ”duck wool” fabric at Hobby Lobby.  It wasn’t exactly cheap, at $8.50/yard, but it was by far the best choice for the look we wanted.  And considering we only paid $15 for the chair, we weren’t too worried about it.  We bought two 2 yard pieces to make sure we’d have enough for both cushions.

If you’re wondering if we sewed the new cushions, the answer is a big fat NO!  We discussed buying a sewing machine, but that would call for a pretty penny, along with me learning how to use it.  Hmmm, no thanks!  So then we talked to the sweet lady at Hobby Lobby for alternative options, and she recommended a little shop where you can go and pay to use their sewing machines.  Alright…it’s sounding better, although I still have no clue how to use one!  And frankly, it’s not high on my priority list of things to learn right now. 

So we popped in this little hole in the wall place by the beach and the sweetest lady sewed our cushions for us for $25 while we sat and talked to her about all the stuff she makes.  She was entertaining and such a refreshing person to meet, so we didn’t mind that price.  It certainly beats buying a sewing machine.  

We drove home and threw the cushions on their old chair and OMG!  We are thrilled with how they turned out!  Check ‘em out!

I’m in love!  It’s the perfect combo of bright and bold, and it’s just what this room needed.
